Stop Bermuda Invasion
Reclaim your lawn from aggressive bermuda grass with proven suppression treamtments
3-Step Bermuda Suppression Plan
Our 3-Step Bermuda Suppression Plan is designed for cool-season lawns that are experiencing Bermuda grass invasion. Bermuda grass can aggressively spread into tall fescue lawns during the summer months, competing for nutrients, water, and space.
This program consists of three targeted suppression treatments, beginning in late July, aimed at controlling Bermuda grass while minimizing stress to the desired cool-season turf. These treatments work to weaken and suppress Bermuda growth, reducing its ability to spread and dominate the lawn.
Treatment Schedule
- Three applications, spaced appropriately based on growth and environmental conditions
- Treatments typically begin in late July, when Bermuda is actively growing and most responsive to suppression
Follow-Up Requirement
For best results, all Bermuda suppression treatments must be followed by core aeration and overseeding. This step is critical to improve turf density, help desired cool-season grass reclaim space, and reduce future Bermuda encroachment. Without aeration and overseeding, suppression results may be limited.
Program Expectations & Long-Term Results
- Best results are achieved when the Bermuda Suppression Plan is performed for two consecutive years
- After initial control is achieved, ongoing suppression may be recommended every other year or on an as-needed basis
- This program is intended for suppression, not complete elimination
- Results vary depending on the severity and extent of the Bermuda infestation
Important Considerations
- Bermuda grass is aggressive and persistent, especially in full sun areas
- In cases of heavy or widespread Bermuda presence, a full lawn renovation may be more cost-effective and efficient
- Renovation options can be discussed based on lawn conditions and long-term goals
